40+ SS - Achievable?
« on: July 03, 2010, 12:33:30 pm »

Hello everyone,

First post on this forum. (:

Well anyway, to my question, for unit 3, I got 40/50 and 41/50 which averages out to 81% and I think I am somewhere in the top three of our class (note: that we only have 10 people in our class.) Is it still an achievable for me to get a study score of above 40?

If so, would I need to A+ the rest of the year and the exam?

Thanks for any help.

I went to a state school and out of the 2 classes of 15-20 students i think there were around 8-10 ppl with a 40+ SS, so i think u shud be right
well the limit can turn into a threshold..

If you maintain that 80% for both Unit 3 and 4 SACS and then get a medium A+ in the exam (78/90 or 79/90ish) then a 40 is achievable (From last years data that's what you would need)

Thank you for your replies, just one more question, _avO you mentioned "From last years data that's what you would need" Could you tell me how you found this out?

-Thanks

Regardless of your cohort performance,
if your getting 90+ in SACs and also lose no more than 10 marks in the exam, you can surely get 45+ (this is coming from experience)

I got a disappointing 37/50 and 38/50
i happen to be in the same class As JeremyS
So was wondering if this is still possible for me? im looking for a final score of 45 [after scaling]
I happen to be in year 11, is there any increment given for that?

well it rlly depends how everyone performed in the cohort but then again if you ace the exam then u could probably still get 45+
and yr 11s and 12s are not looked at differently as you will get the scaling in the year you do the subject

Okay, so out of a class of 8 people, i expect to be in top 4 at least, at most top 3.
If i do really well on the next few SACs and they ace the exam the 45+ is still possible right? Does this change if the students which got higher than me on the first two SACs also ace the exam?
By the way, is a score of 50 now out of reach for me?

Your "rank" in the exam does not matter, it is your score that matters, whereas for SACs it is vica versa. So say if you get 3rd rank in SACs, then your SAC mark will be equivalent to the 3rd top mark obtained in your cohort in the exam. That's sort of how it works generally but things like the number of people in your cohort and all this other stuff comes into play too.

I don't quite understand fully, What's a different word for cohort? Maybe that is what's confusing me...

Cohort is the whole IT year level at your school
well the limit can turn into a threshold..
