Unit 4 Area of Study 1 Summary
« on: July 06, 2010, 09:24:34 pm »

This is a summary of Heinemann Chemistry chapters 15-18 and 21 (sulfuric acid) that I've been working on for the past few weeks. There's also a bit of extra stuff I added. Feel free to point out any mistakes, suggest improvements or thank me for it. :D

I'll update the file as I go through and slowly improve the summary, so keep an eye out for newer versions. Download the last file. The others are previous versions.

Update (7/07/10)

I've made for the following corrections/additions:
  • Chapter 16: Added a section about haemoglobin (it seems to be a popular question). "Over time, both the forward and reverse reactions occur simultaneously." now correctly reads "Over time, both the forward and reverse reactions occur at the same rate."
  • Chapter 17: Mentioned the fact that pure water at higher temperatures has lower pH but is still considered neutral.
  • Chapter 18: Corrected typo.

Thanks. The trick is to be as consistent as possible in the way you format it (you can see that there are hardly any deviations in mine).

They were written from scratch in Microsoft Word 2007 and saved as a PDF. There's a plug-in for Word that lets you do it, which I downloaded from the Microsoft website. The plug-in is pretty terrible, though. It ruins images because the compression is bad and the files it produces are huge.

I downloaded this thing called the Bullzip PDF Printer that lets me print Word documents (and anything else, really) to PDF and it produces a much smaller file with less lossy image compression.
