Yes, as long as you don't go outside your course requirements. So by the end of your degree you'll need to have done one 300 level and no more than three 100 level breadth.

I know you can't do more than 3 100 level breadth, but can you do more than 3 and choose which ones you want credit for?  Or is it strictly no more than 3?

Not sure, if you're planning on doing it you should check with your student centre but I imagine that you can and only have some of them counted. This would mean, however, that you wouldn't have completed 300 points worth of study (since some of your breadth aren't included) so you'd have to do summer semester/overload in order to graduate at the end of your degree.

e, just to note, that doesn't mean that they won't be on your academic transcript, just that you can take more than three level one subjects if you want to.

Yeah, I understand that it will be on the transcript that you will still need to pay for it but what if the breadth subject was offered over the summer and I wanted to do it?  It wouldn't really affect my study plan since I can still do core subjects over the normal semester period.

Once again, I love the Eastern Precinct Centre.  All your solutions to everyday problems.  :D  I gotta get in contact with them.

I've got a similar question. I'm wanting to do a breadth subject in the Summer semester of 2011, but it's a level 2 subject and I'll be entering third year in 2011.
Not sure if this will be acceptable...
From the website..
"Normally students will take 25 points (two subjects) at each year level i.e.: two 100 level or first year subjects; two 200 level or second year subjects and two 300 level or third year subjects.
With sound academic reasons and after a case has been made to the Associate Dean through the Student Centre Manager this may be varied after the completion of first year to allow students to take up to 37.5 points at 100 level, 25 points at 200 level and 12.5 points at 300 level. This option increases access to third year discipline based subjects."

Obviously I'm in a similar situation wanting to do 37.5 points of level 2 breadth.. hmmmm.... Should probably go to the student centre but a majority of the time you get a different answer everytime you go there.

I don't see how they'd possibly have a problem with that

Yeah I was just thinking maybe not due to the 'sound academic reasons' etc. I was just doubting it a little but I suppose as long as you've complied to the 12.5 points of level 3 breadth.
