They are heavily maths based (in latter years) and if you are good at maths then you will do really well.

I don't know about economics.  I think there's still reasonably a bit of writing in economics.

Well to be more precise, I was talking more about mathematical economics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathematical_economics#Econometrics) in fact almost all of mathematical economics is based on statistics which is the econometrics branch of study - Heavily mathematics intensive. You will be surprised at some of the mathematical tools used in economics, even topics such as graph theory in pure mathematics are utilised to a far extent. Although ofcourse there are writing in economics, afterall it is a social science and not a pure one, but the mathematical aspects of it are far more important in order to understand the concepts.

marketing and management you will need it.

In economics you have to write quite a bit but your not judged on how WELL you write at all, you can get full marks and have a pretty poor grasp of English. Also, it isn't essay style at all, so I wouldn't worry about economics.

methodsman:
Regardless of the major, the two killer essay subjects are Management (~1000 words) and Business Law (3000 word assignment), get them out of the way in first year and life should be great! (unless you choose to major in these)
