How can I improve my subject scores?

Hi guys,

with uni I find that I can usually get great marks with assignments and tests on content in the semester, but when the exams come I end up getting marks that are much lower. I would like to ask the VN community how you guys prepare for the exams, because for me to get into Masters I need at least an H3, but I really would like to finish my bachelor degree on atleast an H2A.

Cheers.

I've only done one uni exam and i just went through each page of the lecture notes writing out in a seperate book the important concepts, and then going through a full practice exam, and when not knowing something looking up that concept in my book and going from there. Then before going to bed trying to memorise the ROTE learny stuff (there was quite a bit for inorganic chemistry).
I crammed very much the days before the exam, and did nothing all year, but this could help for concepts you don't know too well I'm sure but try and spread out what you need to do, and give yourself plenty of time to rest in between.
if you already have studied throughout the year (which is what you/i should do) then make notes on anything forgotten at the end and do practice exams using that note book as a reference.

I try to write the key points from each lecture out as I go, so that when the end of semester comes around I have the basics well understood. Then I get the huge stack of lecture notes and work through them, writing them out and learning what's there. Usually aim for six lectures a day as a minimum.

But that lends itself better to my course, back when I had to do maths/physics I was attempting to just do sample questions for all of SWOTVAC. At the end of the day, it's just about effort I guess. Last semester I said that I wanted higher marks, so I locked myself up for more study time during exams and got there.

For exams I summarise the whole course.
This year, it was 3 A5 96 page notebooks per subject.

Then just do the practice questions to death.

Practice papers then pump the study on whatever you get wrong.
