Transfer to melb uni

Hey guys,
I'm a first year Deakin University student studying Commerce/Law. I am considering transferring to Bach. Commerce at Melb Uni at the end of the year and I was wondering what the average is required for a transfer? Currently, I have an average of 73.
Also for those people that are currently studying this degree, are you enjoying it?

I am unsure whether to transfer because apparently Deakin doesn't get credit for any subjects at Melb uni  :( so I'm unsure whether it is worth spending 3 years to get a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Accounting and Finance) at a more reputable university or spending another 4 years at Deakin and getting a Bachelor of Commerce(accounting) and Law.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Deakin is underrated. UoM vice versa. The new breadth requirement is onerous and sought as a means to normalize revenue across dept/faculties. I'm a postgrad atm transferred in from ANU after leaving the capital for MELB. ANU the better uni; MLEB better city; city >>> uni. From a career perspective, it depends on the position as well as employer. That said, I haven't noticed any discernible discrepancy in recruitment preferences under most conditions and selection processes with regards to Deakin vs. UoM. As a matter of fact, the APS is statistically indifferent to most unis.

I think it could be roughly a 75. So just a little bit higher. Will look into it.

It's up to you where you want to go, but melbourne graduates have more chance to get into most better positions, and some companies only hire melbourne & monash graduates (if in vic).
But i'm sure you can still do fine with Deakin..
Transfer would be stated around 75% but realise you are competing against others and they accept limited numbers, so you may need higher to actually get in if the year is competitive enough.

Thanks for that :)
That's weird though because I know a guy from Deakin University Commerce that transferred into Melbourne University Commerce and got no credit for his subjects, he has to repeat first year again.
Btw how are you finding Melb uni compared to Deakin? And what credit average did you have at Deakin before you transferred?

I know a guy who did straight commerce at Deakin in Geelong for a year before transferring to UoM at the beginning of this year.  I asked him about the advanced standing (ie. getting credit) and apparently it's a little confusing because you can get half credit or something like this for some subjects.  He was even unsure about how it worked.  Despite that, he had to do first year again.

And he also averaged a 70 for the transfer.

Well Melbourne actually care about attendance which is a pain. It's harder, no doubt but i feel like it forces me to actually learn more. I would definitely transfer every time but that doesn't mean you should. I wouldn't worry about the breadth either, you can find a few relevant or interesting things or find something easy with no exam. I also got a breadth credit so that gets one out of the way anyway. I averaged 76 but a friend transferred with me who averaged 70.

You need to do 8 units if your ENTER was nowhere near good enough, like myself, and you apply through VTAC .

So if say, in second semester you dropped a unit, bringing your total down to 7 for the year would UoM immediately reject your transfer? I'm thinking of dropping a unit this semester just to relax a bit before hopefully transferring to UoM Sci

No, they would then only consider your ENTER if you have not completed 1 yr full time.

UoM jumped 12 places from 74 to 62 in latest Shanghai JiaoTong Uni Survey. Still slightly lagging numero uno ANU sitting pretty at 59. Monash broken through into the top 200.

This from a BBC article...google it.

What if you get a low ENTER (Maybe around 80-85) but you got the right average to get in the course, does that mean you're still rejected?
