I'm doing 6 (7 doesn't fit into the timetable unless you do one out of school). This would be Mathematical Methods CAS 3/4, Biology 3/4 as well as 1/2s English Language, Specialist Maths, Chemistry and Physics.

Another mistake: thinking doing 8 subjects would give me any advantage at all.

Should've only done 4 subjects in year 12 and actually focused on them.

More subjects is not necessarily a good thing.

I've got one more: being late to school so often, and disregarding the uniform policy... i reccon i've racked up about 20-30 hours in after school detentions/suspensions so far this year all for petty little disruptions.

Yeah, that's my sentiments. I know doing too many subjects wouldn't have much of an advantage at all. (In fact, 7 should be the maximum...) But I don't have any ideas which one to drop... :(
Yeah, I used to think of doing 8 subjects too as I liked too many subjects (3 in year 11, 5 in year 12) but then decided against it because it is clearly unnecessary. What is the difference between VCE Music Solo Performance and VCE Music Styles?

Maybe unnecessary, but not pointless in the least. Score should not be the only motivation.

I'm part of a whole group of people at my school who are always in trouble for tardiness, but who are still top of our classes... whoever they give dux to will have probably skipped 50% of their periods.

That's a good point. I did 8 subjects because I was interested in all of them. I suppose I shouldn't really regret getting a more well-rounded education. But for those who need/want a really high score, I wouldn't recommend it.

Giving up something that I loved rather than prioritising around it.
what exactly was it that you gave up?
Giving up something that I loved rather than prioritising around it.

Starcraft.

Yeaman. I love games that involving ordering little men around and I get a thrill out of watching them beat each other up.

So much of a thrill that I watch the little guys kill each other for up to 8 hours a day.

No need to overload and make it even more stressful in those final years... I reckon 7 subjects is ample already.
I'm still doing pretty much all the subjects I'm interested in anyway, and physics as a 1/2 only so I'm happy with my selections :)

I should've somehow done Korean SL in VCE just for kicks even though I would most likely get a sub 10 SS.
