Confused about a dot point in the study design

Dot point in the study design: "Analyse the absorption of photons by atoms in terms of the particle-like nature of matter".
Could someone please give me a bit of an explanation of the sort of things this relates too.
I get all the energy states but i don't understand how it supports the particle-like nature of matter. Thanks :)

Someone else is better placed to answer this, but at a guess it relates to wave functions and states of matter. I think they're saying you only have to worry about particle theory, rather than more complex ones.

I think it alludes to the photoelectric effect, despite there being a seperate dot point on that.
