The Essential textbook is currently pissing me off big time with its inconsistent answers for Dynamics. Sometimes it gives answers in terms of g, sometimes exact values and sometimes approximate values. There seems to be no convention or indication in the questions as to what it is after at all. It will choose to leave a ridiculous expression in g like sqrt(20/(21-2g)) instead of using a perfectly neat exact value like 10/sqrt(7), despite using a value that it gave an answer as 0.7 instead of (21-2g)/2 and then in the next part give an approximate answer of 0.357 instead of 5/14 or even 7/2g. It just baffles me.
So my question is this: is there some convention we are meant to follow, or will the exams make it even slightly more obvious in what format they want the answer?
