Help! GST?!

if there is a 10% GST included in the price of a $650 camera then why isnt the original cost $585 (i.e. 650/100 x 10)? We were never taught about it and im worried its going to be on the analysis exam tomorrow. Any help would be appreciated! the real answer is $590.90 btw i just dont know how to get it

well since the amount inc gst is 650
you just divide it by 1.1
that gives the amount before gst
$590.90
