Is it normal that my glossary is over 100 words?  :buck2:

Yes there's probably 20-30 new terms for each area of study so that seems about right.

It's not really right for you to be rote learning all of them though. There's a specific few which would be advisable to memorise (don't ask me which ones; I can't remember anymore) but the majority should be able to be made up on the spot using the knowledge and particularly the concepts you've already learnt within the area of study itself.

Yea words such as quality management and material management you may need to know the exact definition, but specifics including Just in Time, quality control, quality assurance should be easy to remember just by knowing the main concept.

This is coz the questions in the exam might say Describe two operations management strategies that can be used. You would identify the strategy by defining it, then evaluating by briefly describing a particular method (in which they are more lenient when marking as it is not a direct 'define' question)

oh ok. So they examiners won't necessarily want specificity for every concept?

Well you generally should have everything that's important, but that doesn't mean you have to get it word-for-word as it is in your textbook.

It's just that my teacher has been telling me that whenever I try to answer a Q, I should be defining every important term, which is frustrating as it takes so much of my time away from answering whats actually asked. So now I really don't know how else to approach the questions.

It's just something you have to do to ensure you get every mark.

There free of charge :)
It's not up to date so you better go over it and add other words (such as organisational inertia, work-life balance etc)

What I do is go over the assessment reports and copy their 'good response' definitions as well as the current 2010 exam solutions which incorporate the newer terms and concepts
