Pen only on end of year?

At the end of the day the VCAA markers are not going to look at your exam and refuse to mark it because you used pencil. Perhaps a case could be made that they may tend to give the benefit of the doubt to people using pen because it makes their life as a marker easier, but imo if you know your stuff it shouldn't matter. The VCAA markers are human, they're not trying to screw you out of marks, if anything they're trying to give you as many marks as they can.

As Chemistry exams are marked online, students are advised to use a black or blue pen as markings in pencil may not show up when the paper is scanned.

so apparently they scan the exams then email it out to teacher for marking.

so if you must write in pencil, take in a 6B lol! (implying you must write dark)
