Triangle inequiality?

Is it legal to ask an isosoles triangle ABC has AB = 10, AC = 4. The perimeter is?

I didn't think this was on the course, Kilbaha 09 seems to think it is.
2009: Math methods: 50, Psychology: 44

Is it 18? I guess you just have to think 2 sides must be same. 1 is long and 1 is short. 2 short sides produce a long. I don't know if that is what they are trying to test?

i think different types of triangles would be something you'd want to know, when doing things like figuring out bearings or degrees the type of triangle it is can help you figure the answer much faster.
isoscles triangle always has two matching sides so yeah... i'd assume the answer would be 18 or 24 depending on the diagram...
