Q - The phonological loop is responsible for:
ANS(c) - processing and storing a limited amount of auditory information until it is either attended to or discarded.

I don't get how this can be right. The phonological loop is part of working memory (short term memory) and nothing is processed or stored until it is attended to. This answer says it works more-so like sensory memory doesn't it?
Or i may be way off with my understanding of phonological loop, help appreciated :)

yep, on a second reading of that I believe that it is incorrect.
if info is in working memory, that should mean that it is within conscious awareness and is being actively processed (thus it is attended to)

I think they are trying to refer to the decay theory of forgetting in STM...if information is not rehearsed (which they have mistakenly wrote as attended) then it will be lost from STM in 20seconds..

but i too agree this is poorly written and more likely reflects iconic memory
