Linear Dependence and Imdependence

Can someone explain it to me and provide an example? Its something I don't understand too well and pasting textbook definitions won't help that much.

The things that a certain someone does at school:
-Steals peoples Accounting Checkpoints, cuts out the notes and returns the book minus the notes.
-Steals teacher resources which are intended for the whole class.
-Steals peoples Accounting notes that they write in class.
-Gets trial exams off VCEnotes before doing them at school so he boast about his 'intelligence'.
-Tells people that a revision lecture is fully booked out when it is not.
-Claims that friends give him notes and summaries which have actually been downloaded off VCEnotes.
