Thoughts?

The exam 1 must have been so easy that they need more separation, so exam 2 is now worth more marks to get this.

Unless Exam 2 is ridiculously hard or something, you will probably need nearly full marks on both exams for 50.

yeah, but your logic sucks

if there are more marks => more distribution => more chance of getting 50

yeah, thats what I initially thought, but then I thought this.

too many people with full marks on exam 1.  they need more separation.

how do you get more separation?

with more marks.  the higher the number of marks, the greater the chance of people losing marks.

WTF ITS OUT OF 82?

i swear every exam ever has been out of 75.

Honestly .. thats really good.

it means that the A+ will be approx 89% like usual.
and you can drop more marks ... and still get an A+

I like.

Yeah exactly.

Only problem is
since there are 9 short answer questions.
they will probably test us on EVERY single thing lulz.

my pick would be

2 electrolysis
1 environment shit ( turbine electricity etc etc )
1 Find the Ka + ph question
2 EQM questons
1 galvanic question
1 Find the amount of amps/time/electrons question
1 find the energy question

:)

Well the thing is, people say that 'based on the mid year exams, they upped the marks for competition' and so forth. You do realise that they wrote this exam LAST YEAR right?

Doesn't mean anything, i mean physics last year for both exams were apparently a 'breeze', so anything goes on this one as well.

If it was that bad, they can change it if they have to.  Why else would they change the mark allocation.  I reckon no shit, over like 100 people got full marks on the mid year...

Guys, do realise this. VCE Chem has moved towards being slightly easier conceptually, and much longer. They ask a fair few obvious questions here and there that just gives marks away, at the expense of reading thirty novels worth of stimulus material. Calculations are no longer the primary focus. This is to attract biochemists into universities because.. well, we need more biochemists.

These days the focus is on timing and finishing the exam. The real separation is going to be between the fast ones from the slower ones.
