10) The answers say E for this question, but is the range for D incorrect too? (therefore D is right too?)

18) How are we meant to know that the initial velocity is 0?

14) What is wrong with option D? (answer is A)

I do remember this exam being stupid (as in answers are debatable). I wouldn't worry about these too much.

10) At a glance, I would agree with you.

18) not enough information, I also agree with you.

14) you are correct as well, the pythagorean identity does apply

Dropped usually implies starting from rest? Otherwise it'd be thrown downwards?

Dropped usually implies starting from rest? Otherwise it'd be thrown downwards?

Dropped implies that the velocity of the item (stone in this case) at time of release is the same as velocity of the balloon that it is dropped out of. Both in magnitude and direction
