Double angle formula and the other one

Do we need to know this for methods because the study design has this:

This area of study will include:
• review of algebra of polynomials, equating coefficients and solution of polynomial equations with
real coefficients of degree n having up to and including n real solutions;
• the relationship of ƒ(x ± y), ƒ(xy) and ƒ to values of ƒ(x) and ƒ(y) for different functions ƒ;
• logarithm laws and exponent laws, recognition of equivalent forms using compound and double
angle formulas for sine, cosine and tangent;

but then its not on our formula sheet nor in my textbook...
Do I need to learn them??

Nope

What about if you are asked in the exam? the study design says so.

I thought that half/double/compound angle formulae etc. were in GMS/Specialist, not Methods.

indeed it is in spesh
only once did i see a question (not even in an exam) that required compound angle in methods

Lol thats nowhere near harsh, I got A/A/B+ on my Chinese Second Language Advanced and they gave me a big fat 23.... Lucky im doing 7 subejcts so it isn't counted. Sort of knew i failed that subject big time anyway, seeing as the longest conversation I had in chinese for the last 5 years or so was during the oral examination lol..

You don't need to memorise them for exam 1.

Nopee, I read earlier in the year in a vcaa bulletin that for methods "the memorisation of double angle and compound angle formulae is not required" so I don't think they'd test it in exam 1 :/ But if they do in exam 2, i'm dead :| lol

Trigonometry is very useful, so you might as well, after all, there's not that much at all so it wouldn't be too much of a hassle to memorise... I'm not even in 3/4 yet and I'm already using them, but mainly for the purposes of geometry ;)

by compound/double angle formulae you mean  :
sin(A + B) = sinAcosB + cosAsinB ????
thats really part of the study design???????
I have never seen it before... :$

I know. I was pretty upset but the scaling is the best. 33 scales to 41
I think its cause the mean grades for indo are rather high

Thanks everyone.... I'll put them in my reference book
