Insight 2010 Exam 2 Question

on average, a country's total scored goals increase by 2.430 goals per game won.
Would it be incorrect to round the answer to 2. The rounding off really confuses me coz i dont see how you can get 2.430 goals =="

Yeah I think it would be wrong because its not 2.430 goals as an answer, it is part of the equation... if that makes sense. That specific question is talking about it in the context of the equation. As in just say an equation is y= 3 + 2.5x   2.5 can't be rounded up to 3 as that would change the results. As in if x were 4, y= 3 + 2.5(4) and that makes 13. Yet if 2.5 were rounded to 3 it would give 17. I think the safe thing to do is to always use the full answers of everything without rounding and only round at the final answer to however many decimal places it specifies.

An average can be a decimal and you do not need to round off unless instructed; even though you cannot actually have 2.430 goals in any one single game.
Another example: the average number of kids in Australian familes is one point something or two point something.
