Forgetting curce- do we need to know figures?

We were having a debate in class, and even our teacher wasn't sure. Do we actually need to know the figures for forgetting curve? If so, which ones?

Eg. 50% forgotten in 1 hour

just make sure you know that there is a rapid decline in the first 20 minutes around 40%??? and around 50% is lost within 1 hour and then it gradually flattens

know that the pattern is rapid, gradual then a plateau.
and you'd be better off if you knew atleast 3 points because at most there could be a requirement to draw a forgetting curve
OR
as i think there has been previously, a 3 mark question to describe it. (3 marks= 3 points)

all i know is

about 40% lost in 20m
about 50% in first hour
forgetting slows after 8 hours
it is influenced by how meaningful the info is

Advisable to know the exact figures and not rough estimates, it's come up in some trial exams I've done. I reckon the most important ones to know are 20mins, 1hr, 1day, and 1week. And it's also good to know at around where the graph plateaus.

I have these figures:
55% lost after 20 mins
45% lost after 1 hr
35% lost after 9 hrs...
are these correct?

or other figures:
42% in 20 mins
56% in 1hr
64% in 9hrs
72% in 2 days

35% lost after 9 hrs?
guessing a typo and that was meant to be 65%? :p

but my points are

40% forgotten after 20 minutes
65% forgotten after 8-24 hours
80% forgotten up to 31 days

realistically because the different texts all specify different points the whole 'rapid gradual plateu' or possibly drawing a rough estimate would be more likely. if your estimates are in the general range they'll give it :)

it is
58% retained in first 20 mins
44% retained in first hour
34% retained in first day
21% retained in first week

and there is no harm learning them!
