if you explain something simple like why Ni doesnt react with Fe2+ but it does with Fe3+, can you just say Fe3+ is an oxidant higher up the series and Ni is an reductant lower down the series therefore react. Fe2+ can be an oxidant but it is lower down the series than Ni (the reductant)

Well you get a negative E naught value, that is no voltage in the system, so thats why no reaction occurs with Ni and Fe2+
