Commerce: Monash vs UoM

--- Quote from: gonzo on December 20, 2008, 10:14:37 pm ---there wouldn't be much difference since both are very good unis and commerce is quite a basic staple , but i think melb uni is preferable due to its reputation and opportunities for further study down the road. i dont know of anyone who got the marks to go to melb uni for commerce but went to monash (except those people doing double degrees).

I had a guaranteed CSP place @ UoM, and I chose Monash.

I guess gta007 has made his decision now? :)

However I'll most likely end up at Monash, which I also really like. They're both great courses!

Ooo, are you going to do straight commerce, or are you going to do a double degree (your enter's high enough)? I'll probably see you there.

I think just straight commerce, nothing else has really caught my eye.
How bout you??
champorado:
I'm gonna do straight commerce as well. I looked into Arts (Global) / Commerce and plain Arts/Commerce as well, but Commerce seems to fit all my needs. While I liked the preparation for exchange in arts global, I couldn't find enough units in the international studies list that I liked. And they still haven't replied to my email, so I'm just gonna leave arts out.

Wow, kinda surprised at the amount of people in here who would choose Melbs over monash in a heartbeat.
A degree is just a degree, does it rly matter THAT much which uni u go to? If (in the eyes of an employer) a monash degree doesnt compare to a Melbourne one then where do say a Deakin and Latrobe one will sit? lol. Despite what's been said I dont rly think that someone who does commerce at Melbourne Uni will have a more successful career and be provided with A LOT more opportunies (as some of u make it sound) than someone who graduated with a bachelor of commerce from monash. They both provide excellent courses. I doubt you'll be disadvantaged either way. I guess in reality it all comes down to the amount of hard work and effort u put into the subject. Not which uni u choose. - but that's just my opinion.
