Should I be worried?

Hey guys,
I'm doing 3/4 Methods next year and just had a look at a couple of past year exams.
Should I be worried as I am unable to do or even understand a large chunk of the exam?

I come from a somewhat underachieving school in which I had to learn alot of the syllabus myself (our class spent almost a term and a half studying just parabolas and linear equations). Im just wondering where everyone's at currently in preparation for next year? I bet some of you can already ace the exam huh?

If you just came out of Unit 1/2, I would not be concerned at all.  While it is true that 1/2 is very similar to 3/4, I think that is only to the extent that the same topics are covered in 3/4, but to greater depth.  Obviously they will examine the greater depth level in the final exam.  If you have problems with lots of Unit 1/2 problems in the textbook, that is probably more concerning.

Id highly suggest you get a tutor. If your budget doesnt suit ( which is acceptable and understandable) use www.mathsonline.com.au
It is a website run by McDonalds which has worksheets and videos which explains all  concepts. Its from Yr7-12.

Don't be worried, most of us yr11s are in the same position!

I am in prep for next year already, done functions and the calculus parts already...

Hey, if it makes you feel any better, at the start of this year I couldn't even do the first question on exam 1 for 2009. =)

You certainly shouldn't be able to answer the questions on the exam

Don't be worried, your case is not new =]

When you put in the effort, you'll find yourself able to answer questions you would never had thought you would.

I didn't understand them until at least halfway through the year and I got 38. It builds on everything, so there's no need to know all that stuff now.

Here is a shameless plug for my paper.

It's a paper made of questions which make up part of the year 12 course, but can be solved using both year 11 or 12 maths :)

Don't worry! At the start of year 11, I literally couldn't do ANY question in my textbook on Linear functions.. It was rather awkward. (1/2 Methods)
Ended up averaging a C+, so it's not all bad, just make sure you stay on top of the work... It'll all come naturally

I remember my first 1/2 class. I was just sitting there going 'what the fk is this guy talking about.'

Then I got A+ on everything in unit 2 'cause I worked hard for it. =D

I think learning the course (mostly) yourself is definitely possible, especially with resources like VN for if/when the textbook doesn't suffice. Having done the first chapters of specialist and methods, I would say the text is informative enough for one do to it themselves.
