LOl.... omg... just delete it. Thats what I did.

It's infrequent. Once in the last year...
If it happened rather frequently then their would be reasons to kick up a fuss.

I will delete it, but I was just asking how to set it so I don't receive it so I don't have to delete it. I.E there is no point receiving and deleting msgs without reading them when there is the option to not receive them in the first place :)

Not a threat, but do you realise there are legal implications of that?

Might want to remember that for the future... :)

Thanks though.

No legal implications. You surrendered your e-mail information to my service. I reserve the right to send e-mails to you at my discretion. You may terminate your membership at any point in time at which you wish to stop receiving e-mails. And to be honest, I wouldn't be sorry to see you go. :D

Actually, no such disclaimer was made during the sign up process (yes, I read it). It's probably arguable that marketing for the Thant Trophy doesn't fall under the primary purpose of us providing information to you...and without his consent (i.e., opting out), it's possible that there is a breach of the National Privacy Princples (Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)).

Hell, there isn't even a privacy policy on this website.

That said, the fact that VCENotes.com isn't an 'organisation' in the legal sense (?) could make that void, however. Mind you, it won't reflect on you well as one who is willing to give away other people's private information for your own private interests.

On the note of opt-ing out, be mindful of the Spam Act...it means that you are not allowed to send emails to users formerly of mailing lists who have opted out. Again, this only covers those of a 'commercial' nature (by definition of 'spam').

But, I think it's in your best interests to make it clear what you will use our private information for.

Personally, though, I don't mind receiving information that may be relevant to my interests. It's only one of the many hundred I receive daily about penis enlargement pills or some 'lonely Russian girl' who wants to marry me tomorrow...if I send $3000.

Hehe, you raise a valid point in terms of "self-interest". The self-interest was in seeing a not-for-profit organization prosper. I believed that with the 1200-member reach that this site possesses that not using it would be a crime. I would never circumvent the opt-out for commercial gain, and I would certainly use it sparingly. That said, the privacy policy is something that's going to be drafted up during the holidays :P And, to avoid further confusion, I shall tack on the clause of sending announcements related to not-for-profit clauses into the privacy policy. I should note here that I will do it very sparingly as has already been evidenced (1 e-mail in 10 months).

EDIT: Also, re: "It won't on you well as one who is willing to give away other people's private information for your own private interests". I never gave away any private information. I sent the e-mail through a function that hides recipient identity from others. I even *wrote* that e-mail. Also, re: private interest, again, the interest was purely to see a great non-profit organization succeed. Nothing more, nothing less.
