Well question is how far will you guys look to be ahead before Further even starts next year? For those that completed Further how far did you go ahead last holidays? Was it helpful or would you not recommend it?

Not recommended for further, you should probably try going ahead in one of your harder subjects or if not then actually study and write a lot of essays to improve your English.

For a subject like Further, as long as you keep up with the work, then you'll score well. That having been said, the common perception with Further is that no study is needed and you'll get 40+, not true. Obviously don't neglect the subject, just keep up to date with everything.

If I were you, I'd just read/make notes on the first few chapters - try to grasp the concepts. Don't overkill on trying to work ahead - you'll be burnt out before the year even starts. That's just me. As with any subject, you need to put in the effort and work hard to do well.

As the others have already said, you dont really need to do any exrta study for further. You should do the homeowrk set by your teacher though and maybe read into the first few chapeters of the core sectoin.

I agree with the fact that people neglect it as they think its a joke and 40+ is easy, but it really isn't. The key to Further is to minimise simple 1 mark mistakes and interpret the question and data given to you.

I didn't do anything for Further during the holidays and during class would be at most 3 or 4 exercises ahead. That being said, it doesn't really matter if you work ahead or not as long as you can cope with whatever you do along with your other studies. In the end it comes down to the exam and so doing prac exams throughout the year (maybe just the Core and selected module sections you have completed eg Core and Module 5- Networks) can help you in SACs (as well as the exam), if not then no biggie you can cram 20 exams in a couple of days come term 3 break and SWOTVAC. Personally I did the latter but I think if I had done the exams earlier throughout the year it wouldn't have much a difference to my study score come results day.

probably completing the course would be a really easy task if you have time (wont take too long) and then spam practice exams all yeah, and you will definitely get an amazing score.
i was going to do it, but couldn't be bothered, ended up doing pretty much no homework during the year and just doing practice exams before. not recommended, i could have done so much better if i had done homework and not crammed.. it such easy content but not an 'easy 50'.

Wow, managed to sum up what I did for Further this year. Hopefully, I'll wake up to "an amazing score" :P

Ummm....If you finish the coursework over the holidays, you will have the entire year to focus on your other subjects. I basically ignored further altogether because I had gone ahead and finished the course. Just kept doing one or two practice exams every now and then. Like any subject, extra study is essential if you want to do well.

well i was talking about doing study on the holidays.
personally i dont think that the content is taht hard and i had learnt 80% of the course in yr 11 gma so i didnt do any study or prep work except for a app task that we had to do. I think that as long as you listen in class, and do your homework throughout the year you will do fine. Then in the weeks leading into the exam do 10~ sets of exams, you may mant to do more.
The key to getting a good study score is to not make any careless errors in the exam, this can be rectified by diong prac exams but personally i found really easy to lose marks in the exam.... this was mainly because i didnt read the question or graphs properly :/
