Split brain procedure

(1/1)

Ashhh:
Could someone please clarify the details of the split brain procedure.. I am a little bit confused when it comes to this.

Thanks  :)

Nick:
Which element or implication of the split brain procedure are you confused with?

jess3254:
Well, a split brain procedure is one which involves removing the corpus callosum (a thick band of nerve fibres which acts as a conduit for neural messages) in order to treat epilepsy.

Subsequent to the procedure, they found that both hemispheres functioned ‘separately’ from each other.

Here is a powerpoint which explains the research and implications of split-brain surgery:

Hope it helps :)

jess3254:
Oh and also,
There's a fun split-brain game here:

It may also help you understand the implications of split brain surgery

Ashhh:
Thank You..
they were both very helpful
