Resources your swore by??

To the the 2010 ISers, what were the resources you couldn't live without throughout the course? Is there a specific subscription magazine that covers what we are looking at in IS? And how many and what resources did you use on a regular basis as your main source on current news?

you dont so much need current news for IS.
You do however need to know examples of Globalisation and Internationalism, so try for things the WB, IMF and WTO have done since 2000.
For Global Conflict, its since the post cold war, so pick two or three (excluding the first gulf war) and focus on them, and then focus on the first gulf war as well as the war in iraq and the war in afghanistan.

For Asia Pacific, it really depends on which one your teacher wants you to do. if your teacher goes for China and Taiwan, then you need to know a bit on Tibet as well as the Uighers.

If they decide to go Nth and Sth Korea, then what happened this year is good to know as well.

As for foriegn policy, look at regional issues, as well as the us alliance.

pretty much, read your textbook. search wikipedia for info, and just watch the news articles online for anythin that relates to anything you cover in outcome 1 3 and 4.

1. If you happen to pick Somalia as one of your PCWC then when you speak od the Mogadishu Effect, you MUST write it as "Mogadishu Effect

3. For globalisation and Internationalism, at the end of the year in the exam, if they want case studies, just remember, the majority will talk about Shell in Nigeria. Nike in Vietnam and Mcdonalds. If you are smart enough, and can get information now, a more recent example you could use would be Foxxcon, i think that is what its called, the place that does the iphones and so on where so many have committed suicide.
4. Keep an eye on this website. http://www.sev.asn.au/ they hold lectures on IS as well as certain other humanities subjects in the middle of the year, and just before the exam. make sure your teacher is also aware of these lectures, as they are VERY benefitial

I don't know that I'd swear by it but this blog had some good stuff during the year. A lot is irrelevant yet interesting. And I never bothered reading the economic related blogs.
