Jap music....

Greatness:
Would listening to japanese music help your listening skills??

Apparently some of the teachers at school dont recommend it because the language they use is usually informal so to speak.

Either way i think i might start listening to some jap music :)
What are some good japanese artists/bands?
Thanks :D

Zien:
The language they use is informal but if you know the difference from when you start listening to Japanese music, it's just beneficial~ Plus, it's good to keep hearing vocab in songs you don't normally learn and not necessarily know, but would not freak you out if you were to hear it in the listening exam.

Might I recommend:

- Yui (always a solid one to start on)
- Ikimonogakari
- Kawada Mami
- KOTOKO (a bit high pitched if you can tolerate it..)
- Nana Mizuki (some of her songs are awesome and some are eh)
- Utada Hikaru (one of the most successful J-pop artist ever)
- Ayumi Hamasak (^likewise)

That's all I can think of that are good places to start off the top of my head. :p

Greatness:
Coooooool :) Thanks what kind of genre are these?

aznxD:
Those are pop/pop rock

Zien:
They're all pretty much J-pop.I don't really listen to J-Rock that much but I do know some. XD Asian Kung-Fu Generation for one, but not my type of music.
