Can we study a Science degree without any physics and go the GAMSAT with the knowledge from VCE physics? I don't think I can squish this subjects along with all the Biology, Chemistry and Calculus.

Me so confused.

Yeh, of course you can. There are people out there doing an Arts degree with absolutely no Science background whats so ever and manage to do well. So i guess not learning physics in uni would be fine, however it would be an advantage to be ahead. =D

terribly, 67! fmlfmlfmlfml    :uglystupid2:
was that unexpected?

no i expected it, because i felt like a total losty but like, considering it brought down my average abit. Not that happy looking back at it

Would the physics learnt in Engineering suffice?

Don't think so. I know mechanics and dynamics are covered in engineering cz i have a couple of friends in Bachelor of Engineering, but i think Engineering Physics is too narrow of a scope for what is required of the gamsat. But i mean, that's not to say you can't get up to speed with the other parts of physics. Take note guys that Physics is only worth 20% of the marks for Section 3 compared to Bio and Chem both 40%. So Physics is quite "Low-ly" weighted
Mmm whens the gamsat, it would be good if you could tell me if its worth it. I kinda feel i might also get screwed by physics..

Gamsat is on the 26th of March but no point of you doing it because firstly, you don't have the 1st year biology and chemistry background to tackle the science section and also, no matter what you get. it won't count because theres a 2 year expiry and u still have 3 years to complete your course. It's not a matter of whether its worth it, its more if you have a passion for one of the health sciences its just one of the hurdles that you have to go through to get there. I am absolutely petrified of physics as you can see from my mark, however, there are prep courses that you can do, and you will find that as you progress through uni and as you mature (more. LOL maybe?) its gonna be alot easier to grasp concepts that you may find hard to tackle right now.
What courses?

medprep / des o neill / guru method etc.

I'm not particularly impressed by any of them, for what it's worth

So just physics fundamentals is sufficient?

I didn't go to any lectures/presentation etc (really don't think they work), but I did pick up a few study guides and materials here and there. They're of decent quality, but I don't think they're worth the ridiculous prices they charge for new ones. Second hand is not really any different, grab them if you want to get them.

I started at the beginning of December. Obviously the time you need to study depends on where you're at. Also this year is so called a trial run for myself but i'm still going to give it all i've got. Coming from a Science background, i am quite confident for section 3. However, Section 1 and 2 require much more time to prepare for, reading the paper/editiorials to get up to speed with world news and current affairs, writing under timed conditions, planning essays. These skills aren't skills that can be mastered if you cram. Some people will start in June if need be. However there's no specific time, so it's completely up to you.

How does everyone prepare for S 1 and 2?

I studied for all of Feb full time and did well, s1/2 just rely on practice essays and reading everything you can find

Just "random" prac essays on general issues? What kind of books, emotional ones? Know any good ones?

Physics 2 was as helpful as Physics 1. There were nuclear Physics stuff which I was glad these were covered during the course. Highly recommended subjects since they help you get through the stimulus/questions pretty quickly.

Is it worth getting the text for physics fundamentals or will the lecture notes suffice?
