I know schools where students can do 3/4 subjects from Year 10; at Balwyn High School, although I don't go there, if you're in the "accelerated" program/group, they allow students to take 3/4 subjects from Year 10 - in the hope of maximising their students' results.

Heh, I was actually in BHS' accelerated program but fled to MHS. Talking to my friends who stayed in that class though, only a few did well in their VCE subject in year 10. Most said they didn't really have the maturity or motivation to do well at that stage. Still, I think one managed to pull a 50 in year 10... But yeh, most would've got lower than 40, or at least got a study score that wasn't included in their primary four so it's not all that useful from what I can see.

Nope, unless you're Thor Taylor, MGS doesn't let you do anything like that.  He IS doing Chinese 3/4, but it was sort of against school policy to let him do so.
