Speaking as the person who won the poll last year (even though I told everyone to vote for appianway), some of us can find the overload of attention and expectations quite overbearing.  It's a self-defense mechanism of sorts, which wouldn't need to be there if there wasn't as much pressure being put on from people around us.  :p

The reason I posted that comment was based on what EZ said about 'the overload of attention and expectations being quite overbearing.

Keep in mind that what I said was only in defense of Thushan and my interests were only in saving him from an overload of attention and expectations, and as such I'm more than happy to apologise to luffy and Romperait for coming off as too aggressive.

I totally agree with EZ and The Ghost Inside. It's just undue pressure on Thushan for absolutely no reason and personally I wouldn't want that - but of course we can't speak for Thushan, some people thrive in the challenge.

You're going to have a hard time being a doctor/surgeon if you think winning a poll on an internet forum whereby most of the users are complete strangers is intense pressure.

You said it was pressure you wouldn't want. Surely that would translate to the pressure having an adverse affect on your performance? Why else would the pressure matter?

You post in the UMAT forums continuously and are quite a knowledgeable poster at that. You either want to go into medicine or waste a lot of time asking questions such as, "Should I start preparing for the UMAT now?"

Its quite obvious that Thushan will be the dux of 2011. With most people, they are somewhat surprised when they log on and see their 99.95 ATAR score. For the case of Thushan, we'd all be shocked if the numbers 99.95 did not appear. The only thing that could even slightly prove a set back is his English Language, but judging by his posts, his English seems quite fine. xD

However, there might be another 99.95'er amongst the 2011 class. Judging by the study scores, I reckon Menang.

How you can see that it's quite obvious that Thushan will achieve a 99.95 is beyond me. The year hasn't even started and so much can go wrong, placing this kind of pressure on him really isn't necessary.

I went to thushan's school....believe me, he's a sure thing...everyone knows, the students, the teachers, heck probably the principal...he is that much of a freak (in the most respectful way possible)
