Would all people who went into Biomed at University of Melbourne by choice (ie. rather than because they didn't get an interview at Monash/interstate) unite here please? :D

lol - wanted more of a first year uni experience, prefer location of melb uni (works a lot better with things i do outside uni), didn't want to move away from friends and family to go to sydney, preferred the melbourne course (fits better with my way of getting a really firm background in biology and science more generally)

Live in CBD so melb uni is closer than monash, was not 100% sure on med so biomed gave me time to think, breadth subject allows me to explore my other options, liked the melb uni campus better. Well those were my main reasons i guess.

I assume the point of this thread is that even though he got 99.95, he's currently doing Biomed at UoM rather than going for other courses and he just wants to see who else followed a similar path to him.

He would also have guaranteed entry to a graduate course (I would think medicine)... so even if he postponed his medical career, he's still heading in that direction without the worry of GAMSAT and extra competition.

This. :P

Without the guarantee, I doubt many people would turn down a place at a decent medical school for biomed.

mm..true - without a guaranteed place, I think people would very rationally choose Monash or another placement (provided they were sure they wanted to do Med).  much easier for me to make the choice, i spose...

Yeah.  But I like what you've done.  You'll get into med anyway, but get to take your time, and have more time to make sure it is what you want to do.  Plus I just have this thing for UoM. :P

I will never stop kicking myself by missing out by so little until I finally/hopefully get into decent med one day.

(i.e. not Griffith or similar haha)
