Oh no it's working fine now, but years ago when I tried to set it up it gave me a lot of crap error messages :(

Yeah, Calc 1 is basically spesh, while Calc 2 is the next step up. They're both pretty easy, though: the only reason it seems hard in vce is because they're constantly throwing ridiculously tricky little bits of algebra at you to try and trip you up. They don't do that at uni.

Don't know anything about any UMEP changes. I did it in 2009 and it was basically equivalent to all of linear algebra, all of calc 2 (minus the stuff on ODEs) and most of real analysis. If you claim credit for it, you only get credit for Accelerated Mathematics 1, though.

Hey for all the maths subjects we can only use a scientific calculator right? If that's the case then I probably won't mind it so much - I really hated using a CAS caluator..

No, you don't get any calculator at all. The upside is that you don't need one, it's not that hard. Calc1 is easy anyway.

I haven't used a graphics calculator since high school. No calculator in maths and only a scientific in eng and physics.

Boo yeah!!!!

Biomed Guide has an error.

It is meant to be 38+ in Spesh for Accelerated Maths, not Metheds.

Easy Calc I here I come. :P

I told you that like...3 pages ago. There's no way they're forcing methods students into accelerated maths

If you only did methods, you do Calc1. If you did methods + spec. you do Calc2. If you did really well in Spec. you do Linear Algebra or Accelerated Maths.

Don't both trying to con the uni, they have all your details. You can plead your case but the coordinator will inevitably see it as you trying to get out of doing a harder subject so you need a really good reason.

Whoops, I missed it completely.

Thanks Russ.  :)

Handbook makes amaths2 look harder than calc2 but there would be fairly large areas of overlap.

The assignments are literally the easiest part of the course. The one time there was a question that nobody could do, they scrapped it and gave everyone the 2%

The way it works is you get two questions to do but only one of them is actually marked

haha thank god russ! I'm guessing the questions are extended response analysis type if there's only two of them?

No, they're really simple exercise questions like "find if "

edit, upon reflection that's implicit differentiation haha. but the point is, the questions won't be hard at all, they'll just be regular questions from the week's lectures

Okay, so I am trying to add my 1st year Calculus I, Physics for Biomedicine and Experimental Design & Data Analysis.

Whenever I search for them in my study plan, it just comes up blank.

Just happening to me, or everyone else?

Also, we don't need to add subjects beyond this year correct?

As said in the sticky, the study plan is crap. Don't search for them, enter the exact subject code (the new code, the one with the 4 letters at the front).

And just subjects for this year is fine

Yeah, I did do it with the subject codes.  It still comes up with nothing.  :S
