Biomedicine and health related Science Majors

I know it's too early to enrol in our majors, but I'm just interested to see which majors everyone is considering, and why.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna do either Defence Against Desease - cause I love all the crazy little things involved in the immune system, or Neuroscience - cause I find cognitive science fascinating.

You know you need to go to sleep when you misread that as Defence Against the Dark Arts.

lol. If that were a major, I'd definitely be choosing it.

I probably should choose a major I actually know the name of..

They all sound so interesting!

I simply have to speak to some friends who've done the course and really do my homework on this one.

Leaning towards Human Structure and function or defence and disease...

I agree, Neuroscience sounds very interesting!
Physiology also looks cool, but I will have to try these type of subjects to see if i like them! Similar with anatomy ones..

Second year, in the core subjects, you'll get a taste of most of the majors (and realize that you don't actually like any of them, they're all too hard)

I was reading all the course descriptions for the subjects that count towards the Neuroscience major and they all looked very interesting so atm that major is looking the best. But I guess a lot could change in a year.

Just a quick question, do you choose another one to be your "minor", or not?

No, you only do a major (and only one, no double majors).

Neuro is kinda cool I guess, but the learning is very dry...action potentials and neuron structure gah

The exam question was literally just the same question reworded 15 times to create 15 different action potential scenarios. I wanted to cry

:'(

There, I did cry.

I'll second Russ' opinion. The idea of neurosci is awesome, but some of the material in it really is quite dry :P Gets even worse once you start learning areas of the brain and whatnot. Dealing with names like the flocculonodular node of the vestibulocerebellum gets very tedious.

Enough to know I'm not taking it further. Never took it as a subject, but I did a fair bit of neural physiology and that's going to be part of any neuro major.

Granted ventricles are cool, but that's about it
