I've heard they're really useful for learning/understanding and things like that.. but not quite sure how to go about drawing them?
Like would you have a concept map for each chapter or perhaps just a massive one.. idk
How about posting some examples of a few that you guys have drawn throughout 2010? :)

I used to make concept maps in year 10 using this website http://www.bubbl.us
I didn't make any in year 11 because I found writing how certain concepts were connected was more useful as it provided an explanation as to why and how things were related. I guess you could do the same with a concept map, although I found it got messy and I always ran out of space

I guess it depends on what subject your doing a concept map for. Like if it's biology then I think you should make one for each chapter and then one for the whole unit, seeing as almost everything is quite interrelated

I have also used that website a few times.
Quite easy to use actually.

Say if your doing one for English you could do it on characters.
Say do a link from: Characters name > Characteristics > What happens to them > Quotes

Mind maps are for stoners.

Make lists/notes with big headings, highlighting, colour coding and your own meaningful typographical features.. important things underlined, or in capital letters. Keep it orderly and indent so its easy to see what information is part of a larger concept.

Yeah completely agree. It keeps everything organised and can be looked over at any time. Mind maps are only useful momentarily when heaps of info is in your mind and you just want to put it all down on paper then connect the concepts. You may as well scrunch the paper and bin it after you make a mind map because it's not that useful when you look back at it for revision.

I'd agree with what is above (too hard to quote on iPhone) but I have found when I have done mind maps that it was good for putting them all down but in the end I still had to study it to remember things and could've done the same in dot point form

There is also those lotus chart things.
I found them quite helpful since it was all just precise information used and straight to the point.
