It's not really about adding education (for more prospects), its more about satisfying my two loves :)

No, there's no chance it will be back, they just don't want people making a fuss.

You can do that regardless of whether you can double major, just take the subjects anyway

Do you think there's any chance they're re-implement double majors for the BSc?

The official stance is "possibly, we're thinking about it"

Completing a double major doesn't really add a whole lot though
Really? Where did you get this information from?
2007-2008 VCE ATAR 90.15
2009-2011 BSc (Unimelb)
2012-2015 DDS (Unimelb)

My coordinator when I asked if I'd get credit for microbiology and defence and disease

But he also made it clear that it was really just being considered because a lot of students were asking

It's a bit more complicated. One of the majors is accredited. Also, i might not get recognised if i don't have the second major (maths) in paper

Melbourne Model doesn't cater for them, it's ideologically opposed to the idea afaik.

Wouldn't be surprised if they disappear from Commerce in the future

I highly doubt it will disappear from commerce.  It's just too popular, especially with these combos:

  • Accounting/Finance
  • Economics/Finance
  • Management/Marketing*
*Not as popular as the first two.

And the commerce degree, in my opinion, gives a lot of freedom to do a double major.

EDIT:  Sorry, had to remove some unsubstantiated comments.

Yeah maybe so, I stay away from the commerce kids so I don't know much about that course, I was just commenting generally on the Model

What's wrong with commerce kids (besides the fact that they have fewer contact hours than us)?

I have fewer this semester *smuglook*

But what's wrong with them - I don't know, I'm just prejudiced against anyone studying that field because of how much interest I have in it

:o  Russ, oh noes!  You have fewer...  You're going down a dangerous path, almost mimicking an arts student.

And also, we have a war cos I'm studying in that field.  :P  I kid, I kid.
