Unit 3 Design Brief Sample

Here is the first design brief that I have written for VCD. Once school starts, I shall retrieve my folios and upload all the SACs and other design briefs that I find.

Personally I do not like this brief all that much. Considering it is only the start of unit 3, it should fetch full marks, (and it did), but that being said it is weak in areas such as

- description of background information of the client
- Communication need
- Client/designer relationship

Wikter is not described enough and relatively foreign throughout the peice

The communication brief is introduced awkwardly, never in the DB does it say "we require you to do this", ti simply assumes that the designer will accept the offer.

That's all I have to say for this now

Read it and post your opinions, my Unit 4 design brief, albeit longer, is of much better standard. Ill post that later.

Thank you so much. This is really, really helpful.
I am aiming high this year in VCD and am really looking forward to it. But I don't really have anything to go off as my idiot-of-a-teacher does not allow us to see any past folios, only their final products.
If you are intending to upload any of your folio work, that would be amazing.

Any advice you can give for a terrified VisCom student?
I am planning on designing a teapot, but I'm really struggling with this design brief as we have been given no template to go off.

Well I wanted to do VCD tutoring this year. Would anyone be interested? My main reason would be however is because I would personally enjoy it. So I might just make it like 10 bucks an hour for group sessions, and I will take emails/phonecalls whenever possible. etc

Im just thinking about it for the moment.

As for my work, I will get a date to go to my school and retrieve the rest, then I will upload them as I go along. however the folios are a bit big - not sure if i can get them up here on the net.
