Advice on re-doing a 3/4 subject

Hey guys,

Just wondering if any of you had any experience with redoing a subject done in Year 11 in Year 12.
I did Methods last year and only ended up with a 37 raw, so I'm contemplating whether or not to repeat it as I'm looking to get a 90+ ATAR score.
Do you think this a good idea? :/ or would I just be wasting time that could spent doing better on other subjects?
I'm also doing French, Spesh, Chem, Physics, English and Uni Maths this year, so I guess the preparation that I would do for the Methods exam would be less.

I know its really a personal choice but I'm having a hard time deciding, so any advice would be helpful
Thanks :)

Isn't a 37 raw rounded to a 40+
And if u get the same in your other subjects and a 5 for uni subject that should get you 90+ shouldn't it?
Use the ATAR Calc to check :)

Depends if you like the subject or not.

If i get <45 in Psych I'd repeat.

Just going to throw out that idea, the school won't let you repeat a 3/4 subject if you get above 30 raw.

I think if you redo a subject, you lose 10% of your final grade don't you? Or was that if you redid VCE...?

In any case, with all those subjects, you could get way above 90 for an ATAR 8D.

One subject (especially since it's methods) won't bring your score down, and well done anyway because 37 is an awesome score! :) Depends whether you think you can cope with methods again this year? But if I were you, I wouldn't repeat, I'd put more time into an awesome score for english (the key to a 90+ score) and my other subjects :)

That's always the best way to go ;)

So, a 37 in Methods scales to around ~42. ATARcalc is down for me, so I can't add up your scores but generally speaking if you get above 32 for all your subjects you should get a 90+ easily...

There is no penalty if you re-do a subject again. In my opinion, I don't think you should repeat it. Doing Mathematical Methods (CAS) again would increase your workload even more - with 5 subjects and a University Enhancement subject already. All your subjects that you're doing this year scale up quite a lot, so I wouldn't worry about repeating Mathematical Methods (CAS); 37 is still a good score. You'd really be wasting your time if you repeated it; move on and work even harder this year!

I would strongly recommend AGAINST it. You are already doing 6 subjects in year 12- one more than usual, doing 7 subjects in a single year would most likely end in catastrophe.

Must be redoing your VCE then, I know you can lose 10% of your mark somewhere...

In any case, no point in repeating. 37 is a solid foundation ;D

Don't bother, if you were able to get 37 in methods and you consider that to be a bad score, then just focus on other subjects and dominate them instead.

Repeating would be extremely boring. I also wouldn't advise Uni Maths if your score for Methods was a 37...

I heard about that 10% rule from somewhere...but I think that might be a myth. Because if you decide to repeat VCe, they'll just take the higher scores, regardless of which year you took them in.

37 raw scales up to around 40 something? I wouldnt repeat, just accept it, move on and focus on other subjects

Just following the general trend here, don't run the risk of getting bored/lazy and stick with your 42 scaled.
