So I had my Spesh test...

Is this the sort of question that could come up in the exam?

Sketch: between stating domain, range, showing and labeling any asymptotes (and if and where the curve crosses it), coordinates of any x-ints, any y-ints and any stationary points.

We were allowed a CAS, but full workings had to shown anyway...

I got the answer (ie drew the curve and did everything), but could something like this come up in the exam (this was only Question 1 btw..)?

EDIT: typed out question wrong... oops. Fixed now.

Couldnt you just use quadratic substitution?

Yes, let and work from there... But our teacher preferred that we also graph the original two functions to make sure we have got the idea of 'cusps' and addition of ordinates.

6 questions (6 graphs), 80 minutes. Around 12-15 marks per question.

My teacher is Russian...

If it does, just go with the flow.
I'm not sure that was a maths joke or not ('flow' referring to the sine curve)...

This wasn't on the test, but we kinda did it in class:

Graph this, labeling everything possible:

^^^Might involve a bit of thinking....

Well if you multiply it out you get the equation of an ellipse centered at (4,-3) but with the restriction that:

This may just be me, but that restriction has no bearing on the graph.

I was waiting for someone to say that! ;D

Hence, the sarcasm:
^^^Might involve a bit of thinking....

I bet some people would have spent 10 mins just looking at it and going wtf (by that I meant people from my class, not on here)

My teacher put it up as a trick question. Half my class was like: 'Not more crazy reciprocals!'

And that is why I shudder whenever I see his tests. I heard several people didn't finish.
