LOST ABOUT THIS QUESTION REGARDING MOTION

A waterskier of a mass 70kg is towed in a northerly direction by a speedboat with a mass of 350kg. The frictional forces opposing the forward motion of the skier total 240N.

1)If the skier has an acceleration of 2m/s^2 due north, what is the tension in the rope towing the waterskier.

2)If the frictional forces opposing the forward motion of the boat total 600N, what is the thrust force applied to the boat by the motor?

Im sorry im horrible at this stuff! Please help! THANKS =D

T-240N= 70x2
T-240N= 140
T= 380N. Am I correct?

You're right.

2) Draw a force diagram, the forces opposing the boat's movement is the tension force from the waterskier and the friction force. Therefore the total force opposing the boat is 600 + 380 = 980N
