VCAA - Section C Essay

‘The temporal lobe has a considerable influence on our daily lives.’
Discuss the above statement.
Your answer should include at least one example from daily life and include reference to the primary and
association cortex and structures in the medial temporal lobes.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I attempted this (worth 10 marks) and have attached it below.

It totals 345 words but VCAA only gives 7/8 of a page for writing and I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to write over that because they mark it online or something? Going to have to write small I guess...

Would appreciate a mark and comments please!

do they seriously mark 3/4 exams online? does that mean yo can't add any annotations on the side of the page???
Can't speak for Biology but definitely online for Psychology.

Where did you hear that from ATAR?

Normally they have the sample exam in the new online format if it has changed...
2010 ATAR: 98.35 - Psychology [50] Media Studies [47
2011-'13: Bachelor of Biomedicine [Neuroscience Major] at Melbourne Uni
2014-'17: Doctor of Medicine (MD) at Melbourne Uni

Can't say anything about Psych being marked online but it's common practice to scan essay booklets and have examiners click through them from home (ie NAPLAN etc.)

WRT to the essay, it's way longer than one handwritten page. There's a lot of fluff you could cut out...no need to list three alternate names for aphasia (no "S" btw). Other than that, it's got 10 separate points/examples so you're fine

This is what he said. Instead of examiners marking one person's whole exam, each examiner would get certain sections, ie- mark Section C only.

I write 13 words a line - 26 lines per page - 338 words :P.

But yes I agree - I found it a bit long too.

Yup I can confirm this - it's being marked online.. so our teacher specifically advised against writing off the lines... luckily for me I have tiny writing.. finally it works to my advantage..
