I always have the radio on (like ABC 774) while doing all work except english. Saves me reading all of the newspaper and keeps me up-to-date on issues. Only listen to music (mainly hip-hop, soul and rock ) when doing work on public transport. Works for me.

I take back what I said. ;D

Warning: DO NOT listen to this song prior to ANY form of studying. This is because one of these two might happen: (1) you'll be laughing your ass off and hitting the 'replay' button non-stop for some reason, even though you know her voice is so darn screeching and the lyrics are horrid, or (2) your ears will be bleeding. Don't blame me if any of you fail a SAC! :P

Sometimes i listen to metalcore whilst studying, or even house. Whilst it doesent help getting you into the study mode, for some reason I start to work a lot faster after an awesome drop/breakdown (but slower at other times :P)

Requiem by Beethoven if I really want to help my study :)
‎"We divert our attention from disease and death as much as we can; and the slaughter-houses and indecencies without end on which our life is founded are huddled out of sight and never mentioned, so that the world we recognize officially in literature and in society is a poetic fiction far handsomer and cleaner and better than the world that really is."

Hmmm... what about superlearning music? I've never tried nor have I been able to obtain it but it's said to induce a relaxed alpha state and improves learning by about like 3 or more times

Do you mean binaural and isochronic tones?

I do not say lonely -- at least, not all the time -- but essentially, and finally, alone. Moonlight sonata is great for when I'm having trouble focusing! Otherwise, I listen to a wide range of music whilst studying, mostly rock, prog, metal, jazz, classical, movie scores and Disney music. I find that its usually fine, especially if it blocks distractions like tv and other peoples voices, but it can be distracting itself, at times, in which case I opt for silence. I can't explain why listening to music sometimes helps and sometimes distracts, but it does.
