When doing reaction pathways, can you give me 2 reasons why one pathway may be preferable over another?  (other than price and time)

Pathways may be cheaper or take less time than other pathways therefore more preferable.

one pathway may produce more heat as a byproduct so the *chemists could utilise the by products to maximise effiency...

*dont know if thats what youd call them
