The big bang never happened
Chromeo33:
I like the TV show :)

Don't have time to read it all, but i guess the biggest flaw (or question) on the big bang theory is what was the moment of singularity created from (or what was before the singularity).

There was no "before" the singularity because there was no time, since 4 dimensional space-time was consequence of TBB.

Also, we do not know what happened before the singularity, we could be just one cycle of a continually expanding and collapsing universe.

But according to the redshift we're observing, the universe doesn't look like it's going to collapse anytime soon.

Damn this came out in ASP1010 paper for the last question. They asked us a question regarding why the theory of the Big Bang was suggested.
I went on about CMBR and inflation, tracing back to a singularity.

I spoke to a lecturer regarding a topic similar to this. According to him, since the rate of expansion for the universe increases as we look back in time, there would be a point(~16b ly's) where the expansion of the universe equals the speed of light. He called this the cosmic event horizon. Apparently, whatever can happen after that point, we do not know what happens after that point.
But as far as it's within the cosmic event horizon, we can safely assume that we're in an open universe(I hope). We have solid evidence(redshift) that the universe is expanding, but we had yet to prove that it may collapse one day.

As the argument goes, the big bang defined time, so there wasn't "anything" or "nothing" before it. If you have spare time in the break, borrow Road to Reality from a library.

Yeah, but soon here is a hugely relative term.
