Math units for Actuarial major

Hey guys, for those of you pursuing a major in actuarial studies or similar: which of the recommended math units, out of MTH1030 (Techniques for modelling) and ETC2440 (Mathematics for economics and business), is more helpful/relevant for an Actuarial major?

Thanks.

For actuarial you have two choices -- the MTH route (MTH1030/2010/2222/2232) or the ETC route (ETC1000/2440/2520), which is effectively two units shorter in the BComm. The MTH route will give you a much better grounding in the mathematical foundations of the more advanced actuarial units, but unless you're doing a double degree you may struggle fitting all the units in.

MTH2010 is effectively a substitute for ETC2440 for the purposes of pre-requisites, so really you are choosing between these two units.  MTH2010/ETC2440 is a pre-requisite for ETC3510, which is required for the CT8 exemption. MTH1030 is probably a better unit, but I don't see any point in doing both, and unless you are planning to do MTH2010 instead (for which MTH1030 is a pre-requisite), then I strongly recommend doing ETC2440.
