Is it possible to transfer from something like Biomed/comm to comm/law or biomed/law?

I would think it is. Take a look at this: http://www.law.monash.edu.au/future-students/undergraduate/pathways.html

Well I knew she was legit as I had spoken to her on the phone before when I rang the Faculty and she was the the one who sent the receipt and confirmation of the application. Just thought the email was was worded oddly.

Haha IME that's pretty typical of the law fac. They are nicer in person than their brusque emails suggest

Haha! Just joking about the strange wording the email had. I am confident either way.

Anyone have any tips and advice for doing well enough to be able to convert into a double degree including Law? It's what I'll be attempting to do next year after starting my Bachelor of Arts.

Anyone have any tips and advice for doing well enough to be able to convert into a double degree including Law? It's what I'll be attempting to do next year after starting my Bachelor of Arts.

Bachelor of Arts is a good choice of degree to try and get into law, although it is highly competitive to do so. From personal experience this year, I can suggest the following:

  • Sign up for units that you're truly interested in or you are almost certain you can do well in. Do not merely choose units that your friends are doing, or seem to be "more highly regarded". What matters most with getting into law are the marks, not the "reputations" of the units you are doing. Stay true to yourself when choosing your units. For example, if you want to do something with relevance to the law, do the two Criminology units. I also personally found that the Philosophy units I did were pretty interesting and relatively easy to get a good mark in.
  • Don't be afraid to ask questions of your tutor or lecturers if you don't understand a concept, and make sure you follow the instructions of the assessments you have control over (essays, quizzes..etc.) carefully. Most lecturers and tutors are nice enough to give you a hand if you ask them.
  • If you're unsatisfied or disappointed with your mark for an assessment, don't hesitate to challenge or query your tutor. I found that one of my tutors was a harsher if not unrealistic marker of my assessments for a particular unit. When I spoke to the unit coordinator, they seemed to agree as well so I had my assessment remarked and it got upped to a more satisfying mark. With that being said, also be respectful of the marks you get if you think they are fair. Acknowledge your mistakes as your mark may not get upped even if you challenge it. It is not worth having your mark lowered if you think it is fair (even though you may be disappointed with it). Remember, marks in uni are not as easy to get as those in High School.
  • Do not over-work yourself. Working hard or smart is important, but so is taking a break and letting yourself relax. You do not want to go into an exam feeling burnt out. Prepare your exam notes well in advance to avoid this.
  • Finally, remember to maintain your motivation and positivity. You want to make sure you have a strong goal-driven year with the mindset that you WILL achieve your goals. Surround yourself with friends and family who will support and remain positive for you, and find yourself inspiration to carry on when you are  feeling down.

The magic number to strive for is AT LEAST a 75. It is achievable if you put your mind to the task and work for it. Good luck!

To those who were successful with their internal transfer, do you know when WES will reflect the course transfer?

You should have got an email saying you need to go into Monash this Friday and change your enrolment then.

I did receive that email. However, I recall from my first-year enrolment that enrolling in units on WES preceded the physical enrolment day, so I thought that transfers will go through a similar procedure as well.

Yeah sorry I was confused so I emailed them.

Basically they aren't changing our enrolments until after the supposedly compulsory session on Friday.

Then it will be changed in WES.

Wait so we have to rock up on Friday? I thought it was like the 'compulsory' first year enrolment. I've also been waiting for it to change on WES. The email soused as if it would update by itself, regardless on whether we attended Friday.

You don't have to rock up. I emailed the faculty and they basically said that they will be changed after the session, so hopefully on Friday.
