How do you stay awake?

I don't get it.
I go for a 20-30 min run 4-5 days a week
Get 7-8 hours of sleep
Have a pretty average day in terms of physical activity at school (even get a 10-15minute power nap during period 6 sometimes)
and yet when i come back im extremely sleepy
just then i tried eating raw coffee beans so that the terrible taste would keep me up, even that didnt work
Can't study like this, lose focus easily and just stare blankly at book for 5-10 minutes at a time.
what am i doing wrong

Raw coffee beans? Gross haha.
I take heaps of vitamin C everyday... helps get rid of any colds coming on also... don't know if it helps with tiredness though. :)
Maybe you just need a break? As in, take a whole day off and don't do homework but just chill instead. I know it probably isn't best study-wise, but you'll find you have more energy and motivation if you just don't look at the books for a while.  Tiredness doesn't just come from lack of sleep, it can come from stress also.
At the end of the day, your health is more important than VCE so maybe just take it a bit easier.

Yea, I do the same for with vitamin C.
1-2 mandarins a day and a glass of Apple + mango juice (according to the info at the back that's more than 200% of my vitamin c RDI)

Im not sure about the taking days off, generally i do that on fridays as i just go to tutor, come back and do nothing.. I'm not particularly stressed either, but with mid-years coming up and me behind on chem, its' imperative i study hard.. so i really can't think about just taking a whole day off.. But i can't study either.. :|

Coffee + Heaps of Sugar + Ice.

The repercussions can be faced on the weekends.

During the week, Endurance.

Some people actually need 9-10 hours of sleep, try a week where you go to bed earlier / get all your HW done straight after school, it may help.

During the weeknights I fight for every hour I can. It sounds like 8 hours isn't doing it for you! Go to bed and hour or two earlier, even if it's just for a week, and see how you feel at the end of the day. I started going to bed reaaallly early at the start of this year, and it's helped me immeasurably.

I don't drink coffee woo! (Y)

I agree with this... if you're tired then the logical conclusion is that you probably need to sleep more.
A regular sleeping pattern also helps - go to bed and wake up at about the same time every day.

I find, especially after exercise, that I'm particularly tired when reaching a certain point of the night but if I can pull through that period I feel fine thereafter. Feel smashed the next morning but it's almost always worth it.

Yep same with me i struggle to stay awake after like 3pm :s
I get 7-8 hours sleep most nights, exercise a fair bit - play footy for like an hour a day and sometimes go for jogs when i get home. I have a coffee every now and then but taht only helps for a few hours then you it hits you in the afternoon....
But yeah i reckon we should just get some more sleeeeeep :/

What I did was the second I find the teacher explaining something useless or something that I already knew, I close my eyes for a couple of minutes, and doze a moment or two. Body got so used to it that I wake up almost everytime the instant the teacher finishes explaining something.

Works like magic.
