Accounting VS Legal Studies
psychlaw:
Accounting VS Legal
For people who do/have done both
Which to pick
ATM I'm doing Legal which I really want to drop
Pros of Legal
(1) The criminal law section is fun (this is seriously the only pro I can find)
Cons of Legal
(1) Apparently the coursework gets really boring in year 12 (Lots of focus on parliament, constituion, how laws are made... Stuff I really dislike etc) And lacks focus on the stuff I enjoy which is crim law
(2) Much of the exam questions require essay length answers!!!
(3) Lots of writing in the whole subject... Its a con for me
(4) We have to memorise stuff that we learnt in February!!!!!! Doesn't have a midyear which makes it tough. So it requires a lot of work to do well =/
(5) Its seems very subjective - Anything could go wrong and you'd lose 3 marks in a question even though you know it (sorry if this doesn't make sense)
Seeing as I havn't done acc, I don't know much about it.... HOWEVER
I like numbers :)
Noticed it doesn't have essay length questions (Score!)
Has a midyear which splits the course
It CAN'T be subjective, its very straightforward, your answers are either right or wrong! Score!
The only negative I've heard about Acc is that it can be very boring, but I don't think it would be for me, I like what I've seen so far
And the obvious, I've missed Unit 1
Accounting is looking favourable
Your thoughts people who do accounting or legal or both?
Nick:
If I had a choice between the two, I would choose Legal. Accounting can become very dreary and repetitive and it's very formula/maths oriented. It's quite easy to make silly mistakes, which can result in your grades slipping. If you're not extremely dedicated and motivated to do well in this subject, I wouldn't do it.

In unit 3 and 4 the criminal law section is a minor part of the course and the rest of it is boring....
