Running out of motivation :[

(1/2) > >>

Tammi224:
I have so many ideas on my theme of society and yet im having trouble putting them into artwork :[
But along with that im also out of motivation, i keep putting my folio off and now i have like 4 weeks to get it complete.
Anyone have any motivational tips?

jane1234:
Hey :)
I'm doing art this year and in the same boat as you! I have zero motivation for it at all... and our folio is due a week before mid years so I'll definitely be prioritizing those subjects over art.
I don't know how you work, but I find I work best in little bursts. As in, I'll do heaps and heaps for about a week, then leave it for another 3 weeks. It's definitely NOT recommended, but it's the only way I find I can manage. So I'm saving next week (as it is a SAC free week) to get the Unit 3 part of my folio finished, and then not worry about it till the holidays...
Best advice I can give you is just start working on it again. The biggest hurdle is often wondering where to start when you've put it off, but if you do SOMETHING then the rest should flow and you'll probably find your motivation too :)

Tammi224:
hrmm our folio's are due around the same time.
Im lucky i don't have mid years and only 4 subjects to focus on but studio still gets left as the last priority and i know that isn't good cause its the subject that takes the longest.
yeah, we seem to have the same strategy with actually doing the artwork. I get these amazing ideas one day and that continues for a week or even 2 but then 'the mojo' just disappears and i feel lost again.
I need 20 more pages for my teacher to be statisfied with the work i've done and it just doesn't seem to be getting there. I spent 3 hours yesterday and only got two pages done :/

Ariel:
Im like you in that I have so many ideas that I just can't put into an artwork! I haven't worked that out yet but maybe you could try with different mediums, like you can make a little movie...It can't hurt to do abstraction, it doesn't have to show your ideas perfectly. Try to work on Studio Art in your down time, you can do sketches or whatever when you watch tv. Always be on the lookout for inspiration and how other artists like brett whiteley communicate their ideas. For sure, its a time consuming subject, but dont give up!

Tammi224:
Hrmmk I've been sussing out different mediums, yeah my teaching keeps pushing me to do sketches and then work them into a better piece of work.
I shall definitely look at Brett Whiteley, thank you :]
You don't give up either, those ideas will all come onto paper somehow.
