Amplifier question.

I saw this question and I'm not sure how to approach it.



I'm sure its simple but I don't get it while looking at it and the assessment report isn't much help.

First off, you have to realise the signal is clipped at -10v and +10v, so the linear region is before then



I'm going to use the signal time between 0ms and 5ms, for the sake of simplicity however you can take it from anywhere that it is NOT clipped.





I think they accept both -50 and 50, however I recall the chief examiner saying somewhere the negative was unnecessary? This question doesn't say state the magnitude of the voltage gain, so :S

I'm quite sure they accept both +/- values of the voltage gain

You can state whether it is inverting or not instead of negative.

Thanks guys, after a lot of thinking I ended up understanding it.

I know this isn't that relevant to the current course but I still would like to know what it means and  how to do it.

I'm going to guess:

Vin = 0.6V
Vout = 4.0V

Basically you're looking for the quiescent point (unless this is different in transistors) but I'm assuming it'll be the same for both amplifiers and transistor amplifiers...

Voltage gain has no + or - sign.

I lost my mark on Exam 1 last year for that (I think).
